Library as a Learning Resource

Library ensure access, use and security of resource:

a)Access: Easy access to all the resource materials in the library for all users on all working days (9AM to 6PM). The library is also accessible to the faculty of sister institutions, retired staff and research scholars from outside.
b)conduct library orientation and motivational classes for all new entrants .
c)Safety/Security:

Facilities available in the library: (Computers, Internet, Reprographic facilities etc.)

Library ensure purchase and use of current titles, important journals and other reading materials:

Books recommended by the respective departments/Advisory Committee/and students will be purchased. The subscription of important journals/ periodicals/ literary/business bulletins /news papers/magazines and other reading materials are recommended by the department and discussed in Advisory Committee. The current titles are kept in the reference section where the students and faculty members make use of them for preparing Assignments, Power Points etc., Latest journals are referred by the faculty for their research and also the faculty collects review articles and add as additional input in class room teaching.

Library - archives section:

The articles in old journals and some biographies are referred by the researchers and other public for various purposes.
The archives section of the library consists of
(i) Encyclopaedia on Roses
(ii) Century old biographies
(iii)Old journals donated by alumni

Internet services in the library & hours and frequency of use:

Internet facility available in the library both for the students and staff.
Library services computerized & Institution make use of INFLIBNET n-list ficality.
The library services are computerized. The automated online catalogue follows the Dewey decimal classification, (DDC), the standard format using SOUL software. The INFLIBNET provides free journals and e-books and various subjects. The students refer e-books and read them to prepare assignments etc. The e-journals are subscribed and mostly used by the faculty for research purpose.

Working Days & Timings of the Library:

The library is kept open for 230 days in a year. Library is kept open from 9 am to 6 pm on all working days.
During examinations the library facility will available from 9 am to 6.30 pm.
The library was kept open during the summer vacation of 2010 for the benefit of students who joined special training programme (STP) for various competitive exams coaching.

Advisory Committee of the Library & its functions:

The library has an advisory committee consisting of PRINCIPAL as chairman and librarian as convener and all lecturers in charge as members.

Library motivate students/ teachers to read existing and new arrivals:

Special facilities offered by the library to the visually challenged and physically challenged persons and their usages:

The physically challenged students are assisted by the library staff when they need to borrow books. Arrangements are made in the ground floor for reference work. The librarys provided Braille books for visually challenged students.
Jaws is a screen reading software the gives accessibility to the visually challenged students. With distinct software KURZVEIL the visually challenged students are able to read text books and news papers independently.

The library services are automated. The availability of books can be checked using computer. The library notice board displays information regarding summer courses/short term projects in other organizations / information about co-curricular activities conducted/ information regarding competitive exams / articles of academic relevance which are published in daily news papers and periodicals/display of new arrivals of magazines and journal .
The library offers other information services for the holistic development of the learners to prepare them for various competitive exams.
Orientation Classes to new entrants are conducted by the librarian on the use of library services.
Separate reading room and reference section are provided.
